About Cowgirl Clutch

About Carol Stricker, creator of Cowgirl Clutch

As a young girl I lived in Ossining, NY, a small town on the Hudson River. Early on, my grandmother, a Swedish immigrant and professional seamstress, taught me the love of sewing.

After graduating from Ossining High School, I attended Manhattan School of Music, and then McGill University in Montreal, Canada, graduating with a degree in Music. I moved to Memphis, TN where I was a professional violinist with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra for 28 years.

Along with my musical career, I continued sewing. I began a successful line of Symphony gowns for musicians, and also designed many costumes for the Memphis Symphony, including all costuming for their production of “The Wiz”. I then went on to become the costume and theatrical designer for Canada's Dance Etc.

In 2002, while on vacation in New Mexico, I was inspired by the beauty of the Western and Southwestern states, and began my line of Cowgirl Clutch purses. They are known for their quality fabrics and workmanship, and are sold in several western wear shops around the US.

Tampa, FL is now my home, and I can often be found in my favorite sewing store Keep Me In Stitches, www.kmisinc.com where I also teach sewing classes. If you're in town, come by and say Hello.
